Week #63 Give Me Your Eyes - Brandon Heath

Check out the video and take a look at the lyrics in Brandon Heath's song: Give Me Your Eyes. I truly think this song relays an inspiring message and will hopefully make all of us evaluate how we see others.

Looked down from a broken sky
Traced out by the city lights
My world from a mile high
Best seat in the house tonight
Touched down on the cold black top
Hold on for the sudden stop
Breath in the familiar shock
Of confusion and chaos
All those people going somewhere,
Why have I never cared?

Chorus:
Give me your eyes for just one second
Give me your eyes so I can see
Everything that I keep missing
Give me your love for humanity
Give me your arms for the broken hearted
Ones that are far beyond my reach.
Give me your heart for the ones forgotten
Give me your eyes so I can see
Yeah
Yeah

Step out on a busy street
See a girl and our eyes meet
Does her best to smile at me
To hide what's underneath
There's a man just to her right
Black suit and a bright red tie
Too ashamed to tell his wife
He's out of work
He's buying time
All those people going somewhere
Why have I never cared?

Chorus

I've Been there a million times
A couple of million eyes
Just moving past me by
I swear I never thought that I was wrong
Well I want a second glance
So give me a second chance
To see the way you see the people all along

Chorus (x2)

I love this....how many people do we pass on any given day and never even notice them....or if we do notice them we have no compassion in our hearts for them...you never know what another person is going through...my prayer is that I will always be "looking" for what God would have me "notice" in a person...and that I would just whisper a little prayer when I see someone walking down the street...I do wonder sometimes when I look at people - who IS praying for that person....LET IT BE ME

WOW! Great Song Love the message! What would truly happen if we looked at everyone we meet thru the eyes of Jesus!? We must try! i am guilty as are many, looking at what is just in our path that needs to be delt with and not the hurt that is all around us, as i recall Jesus was just the opposit. Thanks Jon, for the wake up call!!

The message in this song is a great one. It should rattle us. Sadly, I've been listening to it for a while know and still struggle applying it to my day to day life.

On a side note...would you all like to see more posts like this one in the future?

Definitely would love to see more posts like this...I am a firm believer that the words of a song can touch a heart faster than preaching and/or teaching at times....a mixture would be great..
